In the 1970s, NOC developed a proprietary process for the manufacture of Ethylidene Norbornene (ENB). This process is used at the 20 kT plant located in Kashima, Japan, as well as the 20 kT unit in Pasadena, TX started up in June, 2003. A duplicate 20 kT unit at Pasadena (40 kT total) is scheduled for completion at the end of 2006 and commercial operation at the beginning of the 2nd quarter of 2007. ENB is primarily used as a ter-monomer in the production of certain grades of EPDM rubber. Click on the ENB bar to get more information about this product and its coproducts. |
